Photo Gallery: Sam Crow Negatives

Samuel Marmaduke Crow (1878-1947) was a professional newspaper photographer who lived in Cole Valley. He photographed news events, Golden Gate Park, horse racing, the 1906 earthquake, Panama-Pacific International Exposition, World War I Red Cross activities, and sports including swimming events in east bay venues of Idora Park and Neptune Beach, as well as scenes at the Sutro Baths. Many of these glass plate negatives depict his wife Esther and son Andrew.
