Panama Pacific International Exposition, Charles Niles' crashed monoplane on the North Gardens (now Marina Green). When trying to land, Niles was blinded by the sun and misjudged his altitude, the plane crashed and did two summersaults, ejecting Niles onto the grass. He walked from the site with a broken nose. It was the second crash of the exposition for Niles, who would later die in a crash in Wisconsin in 1916
