[S.F. 8 The Coit Memorial Tower] [The Coit Memorial Toewr (sic) (210 ft. high), on the crest of Telegraph Hill, affords an excellent view of the city and the bay. A plaque here marks "the inner signal station" from which the city was notified of arriving ships in the days of '49, also the first Western Telegraph Station, 1853.
